ABOUT MATTHEW

Matthew Oberg is the founder of 1 Day at a Time LLC, a communication-focused initiative centered around Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC), bilingual communication systems, and practical support solutions for families, schools, and autism support programs.

Matthew currently works in Hanoi, Vietnam, supporting autism centers through AAC implementation, program development, communication workflows, and organizational support systems designed to improve collaboration between staff, students, and families.

Reliable AAC communication support

We help create personalized communication systems for non-speaking and minimally speaking individuals through symbol-based AAC systems, custom communication boards, tablet-based communication tools, and bilingual AAC systems (English–Vietnamese).

Modern Technology

AAC is not meant to replace speech — it is a tool that supports communication, learning, participation, and connection

Our Approach

We are not a clinical provider and do not diagnose or provide therapy. Our role is focused on communication access, organizational support, and helping individuals participate more fully in their environment.

AAC can include picture-based communication boards, symbol-based systems, tablet-based communication apps, alphabet and spelling-based communication, and custom-built communication tools tailored to each individual.

AAC is not only a communication tool — it can also support learning, engagement, and language development. Through structured visuals, symbols, repetition, and routine, AAC systems can help individuals build vocabulary, improve understanding, develop language recognition, strengthen cognitive engagement, and increase participation in learning environments.

Communication is more than speech, and every individual deserves a way to be heard.
